On Sunday, June 28, 2009, First United Methodist Church welcomed the new preacher, Rev. Bob Whiteside and his wife, Sallie. Although he has been retired for the past four years, Bro. Bob came out of retirement to lead our church. He and his wife will continue to live in their home in Starkville and commute to Macon for services. He will be in the church office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Sallie Whiteside joined our church this Sunday at the end of the worship service. We welcome her as a new member to our church. Following the service, many people greeted her and Bro. Bob before going over to the fellowship hall for a potluck meal.
We all are looking forward to this new beginning for our church with Bro. Bob and encourage everyone to make a point to welcome him and Sallie to our church family.

2009 RELAY FOR LIFE:
Although our church did not have a campsite at the Relay For Life event this year, many in our church supported the event with our presence at the event as well as through donations through our church. Here are some pictures of the Relay For Life event this year.

CHILDREN'S EASTER EGG HUNT:
On Saturday, April 11th, First United Methodist Church hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt for the children of our church. We all met at the fellowship hall for snacks and goodies before proceeding to Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Hudgins' home for the egg hunt in their front yard. It was such a wonderful experience for everyone to witness the many small children who were more or less 1 year old sitting together at the children's table enjoying all the Easter cookies and confections that Ms. Kim Langford provided. The egg hunt was divided into two hunts. There was one hunt for the older children which took up most of the Hudgins' front yard, and then there was another hunt for the babies located directly in front of the porch. Everyone enjoyed watching the children scramble across the yard looking for the many eggs which were hidden about the bushes and trees. Here are some pictures from that day. Enjoy!
